Almost sounds to good to be true, doesn't it? Well, it is true... just requires a little work.
It was just one more thing that was bothering me - shelling out $9.99 for haircuts for each of my boys every couple of months. Sometimes I could find coupons for $5.99 or $6.99, but still, I'd be paying a few dollars in tips beyond that and it remained a regular expense. Any regular expense that I can cut will be an ongoing savings.
I discovered that my local Ross store had a decent size selection of hair cutting equipment. I looked at several kits and found a Remington one that looked decent for just $9.99.
I've now given both of my boys hair cuts, and it only cost me $9.99 - the same price as one regular hair cut. (And I paid myself the tip!) The best part is, for as long as the equipment lasts me, I can continue to give my boys hair cuts for free!
So let's see how this may work...
Typically, I'd spend about $18-22 for two haircuts for my boys every couple of months (including tips), so let's consider that to be $20 on average.
Over the course of a year, I'd take them for six hair cuts each - that's $120. Instead, as long as my equipment lasts me for just one year, I'll have paid $10. That's a $110 savings in one year!
Should my equipment last me two years, the savings becomes $230...
Should it last me three years, the savings becomes $350...
And should my husband learn to trust me with my new hair cutting gear... well, let's just take it one step at a time... ;)
