Restaurant.com - 80% Off Gift Certificates
If you've never explored Restaurant.com, check it out and look for restaurants in your area. You can buy gift certificates, which are really more like super coupons, but still make some good deals.
Generally, a $25 "gift certificate" will really be $25 off a $35-$50 purchase, or $25 off two entrees, or some variation of this. Check the fine print to be sure if it will be a deal for you.
But the current deal now through August 31th is that if you enter code: "CLEARANCE" at checkout, $25 certificates which are normally $10 are now just $2, and $10 certificates which are normally $4 are now just $.80!

Stacking Coupons... Legitimately
First off, don't try to get away with using two manufacturer's coupons for the same item... not cool. Ever hear of "stealing"? Yeah, that's pretty much what that is...
But you can legitimately stack coupons in certain stores... like CVS, Walgreens, and Target! These stores have store coupons, in addition to the manufacturer's coupons that they accept. If you happen to have a store coupon plus a manufacturer's coupon for the same product, you can get both discounts off that product! (By the way, you can print store coupons directly from these stores' websites.)
Here's an example from Target... Target has $1/1 Juicy Juice 8-pack juice boxes. I printed two of these store coupons to use on two 8-packs. (Remember, you can't use two of the same type of coupon - two store coupons or two manufacturer's coupons - for one item.) I also printed out a manufacturer's coupon for $1/2 Juicy Juice products. Now, when I go to Target, I can stack these coupons for extra savings. Juicy Juice 8-pack juice boxes are regularly $2.29 each. If I buy two, that's $4.58. Deduct the two $1/1 store coupons and the $1/2 manufacturer's coupon, and my total comes to $1.58. That's just $.79 per pack! (And that's without a sale!)
So play a game of matchmaker - and match up those store coupons with manufacturer's coupons to get extra savings on the things you buy in your household!

Print Coupons You Won't Use Right Away
When I get coupons in a newspaper or through online clipping services such as The Coupon Clippers, I find myself more likely to hold on to coupons that I may not use right away. However, if there's a really good coupon online, like a high value coupon (such as $1.00-$1.98 face value that I know would be great to double the next time a store does Super Doubles) or even just a coupon for a product you use all the time but want to wait to match it up with a sale, print it! There's no telling if that coupon will still even be there tomorrow!
Let me share a few cases in which I was glad I saved some coupons!
I found $1.50 off one frozen Mystic pizza, around the last time Harris Teeter did Super Doubles. I printed several, even though I knew I wouldn't use them all right away. (My freezer tends to get pretty packed when there are Super Doubles or Triple Coupon weeks.) I used one at the time, getting a pizza for around $2 or so. But the expiration date wasn't until the end of the year. I held on to some of those coupons for the future... and boy, was I glad! That coupon can no longer be found online! This week during Super Doubles, these pizzas were on on sale, buy one get one free. Normally, they are $5.45, but this week they were $2.68 each. The $1.50 coupon doubled to take up to $3 off, making these pizzas FREE!
I did the same thing with the bagged Voila frozen dinners from Bird's Eye (which my husband loves). These are usually $5.39, but BOGO this week during Super Doubles. Yes, there is an internet coupon for these at the moment, but it's only for $.55. I still had the old internet printable coupon that was worth $1. So the sale price this week is $2.70, and my $1 coupon doubled, making this product a mere $.70!
So if you see a coupon that you know you might use in the future but not in the immediate present, print it anyway! Also see if you can print it more than once, as often you can print internet coupons twice, and sometimes more. One day, you just might walk away with something for spare change, or even free!

Hair Cuts - Two For One - Plus Many More Free!
Almost sounds to good to be true, doesn't it? Well, it is true... just requires a little work.
It was just one more thing that was bothering me - shelling out $9.99 for haircuts for each of my boys every couple of months. Sometimes I could find coupons for $5.99 or $6.99, but still, I'd be paying a few dollars in tips beyond that and it remained a regular expense. Any regular expense that I can cut will be an ongoing savings.
I discovered that my local Ross store had a decent size selection of hair cutting equipment. I looked at several kits and found a Remington one that looked decent for just $9.99.
I've now given both of my boys hair cuts, and it only cost me $9.99 - the same price as one regular hair cut. (And I paid myself the tip!) The best part is, for as long as the equipment lasts me, I can continue to give my boys hair cuts for free!
So let's see how this may work...
Typically, I'd spend about $18-22 for two haircuts for my boys every couple of months (including tips), so let's consider that to be $20 on average.
Over the course of a year, I'd take them for six hair cuts each - that's $120. Instead, as long as my equipment lasts me for just one year, I'll have paid $10. That's a $110 savings in one year!
Should my equipment last me two years, the savings becomes $230...
Should it last me three years, the savings becomes $350...
And should my husband learn to trust me with my new hair cutting gear... well, let's just take it one step at a time... ;)

New Eye Glasses, Without Costing Me an Arm & a Leg!
I finally got tired of squinting... it was time to update my prescription. Of course that meant going to the eye doctor and I don't have vision insurance, so I was worried about paying an arm and a leg. Plus I'd have to purchase eye glasses - another big expense. But I managed to get it all for approximately $100 - full eye exam, and two pairs of prescription eyeglasses - one tinted for use as sunglasses.
How does one do this?
Well, first things first. Ask around for eye doctor references. Especially if you don't have insurance, find out which eye doctors people like and call up to do a price comparison. One eye doctor was going to charge $108 for the exam, but offered a one-year insurance program that would cost $120 and cover extra visits plus a small discount on their eye glasses. That sounded like a pretty good deal... but I'm young with no additional major eye concerns and probably wouldn't be back for a second appointment within the year, plus, a small discount on their eye glasses? How much would their eye glasses cost to begin with? I kept calling around, and finally found a local eye doctor who charged just $79 flat for one full eye exam, plus a few people gave him good reviews. I was pleased!
Next, get your prescription, including pupil distance. That last part is important in getting the correct eyeglasses for your individual needs - essential for the third step.
Finally, pick out your eyeglasses frames from a discount online source. Two major ones are ZenniOptical.com and EyeBuyDirect.com.
Shipping them took only about a week, and now I can see - without squinting! And thankfully, because of the careful shopping, I even got to keep my arm and my leg!

Finally, pick out your eyeglasses frames from a discount online source. Two major ones are ZenniOptical.com and EyeBuyDirect.com.
- Eye Buy Direct offers glasses for as low as $7.95. A benefit to going with this company is that you can get money back on your purchase if you have an Ebates account, or you can get points for it through a MyPoints account.
- Zenni Optical offers glasses for as low as $8, and although I have MyPoints and Ebates, I still went with Zenni. Here's why - they had a much wider selection of frames at the lowest advertised price of $8. The similar frames I would have purchased through Eye Buy would have cost more than twice the price! Eye Buy has a small $7.95 selection, but the next selection starts at a significantly higher $19.95. (It's very sneaky how they can sucker you into their website by offering a few pairs for just $7.95... caveat emptor.) Zenni has an already large selection for $8, but their next pricing categories are $9.95, $12.95, and $15.95 - all less than Eye Buy's second pricing level.
Shipping them took only about a week, and now I can see - without squinting! And thankfully, because of the careful shopping, I even got to keep my arm and my leg!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles! Starting Wednesday, 8/11
Harris Teeter is doing Super Doubles starting this coming Wednesday, August 11.
Super Doubles means that Harris Teeter will double all coupons with a face value up to $1.98! (Usually they only double coupons up to $.99.)
Therefore, this is a great time to focus on coupons with face values of $1.00-1.98, so start collecting and sorting!
If you get the Sunday paper, start there. If you don't get the Sunday paper, or if you want more coupons than in the one paper you have, try placing an order with The Coupon Clippers. I use this service regularly and have had many successful shopping trips because of them.
Remember, you're not limited to using just one particular coupon one time. Harris Teeter allows you to use three of the same exact coupon for three of those product deals each day. So as long as the products are in stock, if you return daily, you could theoretically use up to 21 identical coupons in one week at Harris Teeter!

So as long as the products are in stock, if you return daily, you could theoretically use up to 21 identical coupons in one week at Harris Teeter!

Coupons Via Snail Mail
Let's face it, printers have a mind of their own. Be it paper jams or technical error codes, I'd say it's a pretty sure bet that most printers have "issues" at some point in their lives. While we often depend on them for things such as printing coupon offers, sometimes, we are simply out of luck because it's that printer's time of the month...
But fortunately, for those of us with ailing printers - or even no printer at all (yep, threw in the towel and raised the white flag) - there are some coupons that we can still receive via snail mail. Check out some of these companies that will send coupons for simply filling out a form online:
I hope to add more to this list soon! Let me know of other snail mail coupon offers you find!

Harris Teeter Deals - Week of August 4-10, 2010
I love to post a few deal highlights that will get you products for less than half price! I also tend to favor deals that do not require coupons from a newspaper (i.e.: no coupon needed or printable coupons available) or deals that only require recent coupons.
A few things to remember about Harris Teeter Policies:
- All coupons with up to $.99 face value will double
- Use up to 3 doubled coupons for three of the same deal
- Double up to 20 coupons per day per household
- Buy 1, Get 1 Free Deals will generally scan at half price, so you do not need to buy 2.

Now on to some of this coming week's highlights...
