NEW: eVIC Coupons at Harris Teeter

Have you heard about the new Harris Teeter eVIC coupons?

You do have to be a member of eVic to take advantage of them. Simply browse and select eVIC Coupons online that load directly to your VIC Card. When you purchase the qualifying products, the savings are automatically applied to your order and are noted on your receipt for each qualifying item.

Once one of these coupons is used, it can't be used again, but one good thing is that you can use paper coupons along with the electronic coupons... which means more savings!

Unadvertised Deals - Yes, They're Out There!

You can't always plan on where you're going to get the bargains...

Sometimes Walmart has that one rack of last season's clothing marked down to just $1 a piece. (That season will come back in another 8-9 months!)

Sometimes recently out-of-season merchandise at CVS just hasn't left the shelves fast enough, and you'll find bins in the front of the store advertising 75% off or even 90% off. (Get a head-start on next year's seasonal decor!)

And sometimes that local grocery store just gets an extreme quantity of perishable food that they price to get rid of... as just happened to me at Harris Teeter.

I do typically walk by the meats, looking for those familiar repricing tags on meat that's coming close to the sell-by date. (Hey, if I don't need it right away, I can freeze it for later!) On my most recent trip I found a ton of ground beef with a red "special" sticker on it, which grabbed my attention because it wasn't the usual nearing-last-date-of-sale tag. No, it was a special... on this batch of meat. They were overstocked and had to get rid of it, so they marked it all down to just $.99/lb! I snatched up several packages - about ten pounds worth - because I didn't think my freezer would hold much more.

It was quite a fun surprise, especially when I made hamburgers for our family of four and realized that the four quarter-pound patties only cost $1 total to make! Try getting that off the value menu at McDonald's!

Open your eyes, because there are plenty of unadvertised deals to be found - yes, they're out there!

Extreme Couponing

Check out this video from ABC News, featuring two extreme couponers. See how they fill their shopping carts (yes, even more than one) when handed $50 to buy groceries, and learn some tips along the way. I find it very inspirational!

(Just realize that every store has different policies regarding coupons, so a few statements in this video may not apply everywhere.)
